Phoenix Public Library Offers Free Chess Course for Beginners

Mesquite Library will offer a free 10-week SuperNova Chess Course for beginners from 2 to 3 p.m. Sundays, May 11 through July 13, at 4525 Paradise Village Parkway North.

The course is limited to 10 participants. Each session will include a 30-minute lecture and 30-minute game.

Course instructor, Eric Qi, a student at Explorer Middle School, has received numerous tournament awards including second place at the 2007 National Chess Tournament and the 2007 Arizona State Chess Champion – both in the seventh-grade division.

Phoenix Public Library is a system of 14 branch libraries and the Burton Barr Central Library. To register, please call 602-534-1434 or visit phoenixpubliclibrary.org.
