Phoenix Public Library Hosts “Closing the Food Gap” Author May 1

Burton Barr Central Library will host a discussion featuring Mark Winne, author of “Closing the Food Gap: Resetting the Table in the Land of Plenty,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in Pulliam Auditorium, 1221 N. Central Ave.

Winne, a food policy expert and journalist, will discuss his ideas for making nutritious food available to everyone. He has worked on sustainable solutions for hunger that range from community gardens and farmers’ markets to government-funded programs.

Winne writes, speaks and consults extensively on community food system topics including hunger and food insecurity, local and regional agriculture, community food assessment and food policy.
