If you know outstanding students with disabilities or community members who have contributed significantly to the advancement of people with disabilities, nominate them for the Phoenix Mayor’s Commission on Disability Issues Student and Community Recognition Awards.
The student awards recognize outstanding students with disabilities for their personal and academic achievements. The awards are given in three categories: grades 1-6, grades 7-9 and grades 10-12. To be eligible, students must have a disability, and reside or attend a school in Phoenix.
The community awards recognize those who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of people with disabilities in the city of Phoenix in the following award categories: Architectural Accessibility, Employer and Employee of the Year, Don Aldrich Advocacy Award and Mayor's Award.
Student and community award winners will receive special recognition by the mayor and City Council.
The program is sponsored by the Phoenix Mayor's Commission on Disability Issues in cooperation with the city's Equal Opportunity Department. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, June 27.
