The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department announces a great opportunity for children with disabilities to experience the fun of playing soccer. Boys and girls with physical, sensory and/or cognitive impairments, between the ages of 6 to 18, can register for the Adaptive Soccer League.
All games will be held at the Diamondbacks Youth Complex at the Reach 11 Sports Complex located at 3075 E. Deer Valley Rd. The facility features wheelchair accessible state-of-the-art fields with TotTurf surfacing, often found on playgrounds.
League play will begin on Saturday, Feb. 23 and end on April 5. There will be two levels of play: six to 11 year-olds will play on one field and utilize a “buddy” to assist them. Twelve to 18 year-olds will use another field without a “buddy.” The cost is $30 per player and includes a shirt, equipment and awards. Register online at phoenix.gov/parks/registration or in person at Telephone Pioneer Park, 1946 W. Morningside Dr.
