Free Health Workshops Offered on a Healthy Heart and Happy Hour for your Heart
“Health for a Lifetime,” a yearlong series of free workshops presented by the city of Phoenix Human Services Department Senior Services Division and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will present health information for older adults and the community.
The next free workshop will be “Healthy Heart,” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Deer Valley Senior Center, 2001 W. Wahalla Lane.
Dr. Aklog and Dr. Guzman, cardiologists from St. Joseph’s Hospital, will discuss what is new in cardio vascular surgery, stents and angioplasty. They also will review the anatomy of the heart and new research that is making its way to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Another workshop, “Happy Hour for Your Heart,” will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Desert West Senior Center, 6501 W. Virginia Ave.
At this unique happy hour, attendees will enjoy a heart-healthy snack and enjoy a fun and educational program presented by Dr. Nilou Minaei, clinical nutrition manager, and Sara Regester, registered nurse, both from St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Future monthly workshops will focus on nutrition, cardiac care, communication with your doctor and the latest cancer cures. The workshops are free and open to the public and support the mission of the Healthier Phoenix Initiative. For more information, call 602-534-0540.
