A special ceremony was held today to dedicate the David C. Uribe Multi-purpose Room at the Adam Diaz Senior Center, 4115 W. Thomas Road.
Senior citizens participating on the Site Council Advisory Board were instrumental in recommending this room be dedicated on behalf of Phoenix Police Officer David C. Uribe, who was killed in the line of duty on May 10, 2005. Uribe lived in the area and his mother attends the senior center. The multi-purpose room is where the seniors gather for meals and many social activities.
Uribe graduated from Buckeye High School and served in the U.S. Army. After an honorable discharge from the service, he attended the Phoenix Police Academy. After graduating from the academy, Uribe served in both Maryvale and Cactus precincts for 22 years.
He enjoyed boating, was an avid fisherman, loved reading suspense novels and working in his garage. He was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, five children, two stepchildren, five grandchildren, his parents, stepfather and siblings. Uribe’s son, Adam, is currently an officer with the Phoenix Police Department.
