Ocotillo Library, 102 W. Southern Ave., was recently recognized with the "Spirit of South Mountain" award in the Local Government Agency category at the Third Annual "Spirit of South Mountain" Community Awards ceremony. The award is given by the South Mountain-Laveen Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber cited Ocotillo Library's 40-year history of helping local children and teens to learn to love reading, being the first library in the Phoenix Public Library system to offer Internet access to the community and providing resources for job searching, resume writing and researching information. Ocotillo Branch Manager Annette Vigil accepted the honor on behalf of the dedicated library staff.
Categories of Awards include: Individual Volunteer, Nonprofit Service Organization, Local Business, Education, Local Government Agency and Phoenix P.D. Officer of the Year.
