Celebrate Spring with the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department

Spring is in the air and the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department has a great line-up of events to celebrate the season.

Friday, March 14, 5 – 7:30 p.m.

St. Patty’s in the Park

University Park is hosting a very green St. Patty’s Day in the Park with a four-leaf clover hunt, water balloon toss, a green egg toss, fun games and ice cream. University Park is located at 1002 W. Van Buren. For more information please call 602-262-6800.

Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Eggosaurus at Washington Activity Center

Dig up eggs for prizes at the 2008 Eggosauraus Hunt. Festivities include dinosaur arts and crafts activities, dinosaur inflatables and dinosaur games. This is a free event but concessions will offer items from 50 cents to $2. Hunt times are: 10:15 a.m. for 2-3 year-olds; 10:45 a.m. for 4-5 year-olds; 11:15 a.m. for 6,7, 8 year-olds; 11:45 a.m. for 9-10 year-olds. Washington Activity Center is located at 2240 W. Citrus Way. For more information call 602-262-6971.

Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Great Eggs-Ploration at Paseo Highlands Park

Hop on over to Paseo Highlands Park, at 35th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road, for an old-fashioned egg hunt for kids from 1 – 12 years of age (call for egg hunt schedule). There will be inflatable bouncies, carnival games, a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bunny, performances by the Beuf Community Center youth and adult classes and food vendors. For further information on this free event call 602-534-4754. Don’t forget to bring your basket. For participant convenience, a city circulator bus will be available free of charge. Call 602-253-5000 for information and bus schedule.

Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. - noon

Spring Fling at Sunnyslope Community Center

Fun for the entire family – candy hunt, carnival games, relay races, arts and crafts, face painting, youth basketball. The Candy Hunt will run at: 10:30 a.m. for 3-5 year-olds; 11 a.m. for 6-8 year-olds; 11:30 for 9-11 year-olds. Located at 802 E. Vogel. For additional information call 602-262-6661.

Friday, March 21, 5 – 7:30 p.m.

Egg Hunt in the Park

Hop on over to University Park and join in the fun - egg hunt, games, arts and crafts, and, of course, finding the Golden Egg. For kids ages 2 – 12. Don’t forget to bring your own bag or basket.
