Childsplay brings its free stage production of “Tomás and the Library Lady” to a Phoenix Public Library near you. Pat Mora’s beloved book is now an innovative and moving production by acclaimed playwright José Cruz González.

“Tomás and the Library Lady” is based on the real life of Tomás Rivera who was born in 1935 in Crystal City, Texas. Despite the oppressive conditions of migrant life, Rivera went on to
become the highest-ranking Chicano in public and private education when he accepted the position of chancellor at the University of California, Riverside.
Childsplay is an award-winning professional theater company for young audiences and families. Based in Tempe since 1977, Childsplay has achieved a national reputation in the field.
