The city of Phoenix is sponsoring a seventh annual “Back to School and Health Fair,” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Carl Hayden High School, 3333 W. Roosevelt Ave. Thanks to numerous sponsors, the Back-to-School and Health Fair provides young people with free immunizations, physical and dental check-ups, free backpacks and a free haircut, thanks to the Adam Pink Salon.
The Back to School fair is produced by the city’s Latino Institute, an interdepartmental team whose mission is to promote healthy living, safe communities, and education and understanding of Latino Culture, its contributions to society and its challenges for the future. Sponsors Bank of America; Arizona Public Service; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona; PHX 11; Telemundo TV; Univision Radios and Latino Vibe radio made the 2008 Back to School and Health Fair possible.
The Fair also will give families the opportunity to gather information on after-school programming, domestic violence, education, finance and immigration, nutrition, water safety and finance, and other valuable community resources. A panel discussion about challenges affecting the Latino community will cap off the event.
