All-New Episode of the Building Phoenix Show Premieres 8 p.m. July 16

Phoenix thinks “green” with a plan to save native plants during construction. ASU Downtown races toward the finish line. And older buildings are revitalized into new businesses. An all-new episode of the award-winning Building Phoenix Show premieres at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, on PHX 11, the city’s news and information station available to Cox and Qwest Cable subscribers (for additional airdates and times visit phoenix.gov/11).

This episode showcases two projects involved in the process of adaptive reuse where older, existing buildings are revitalized for new business uses. The projects featured include Simply Bread and Southwest Autism Resource and Research Center’s new Life Skills Center. The episode also features a look at Phoenix’s program for ensuring native plants and trees are salvaged and replanted after construction, and a look at the final construction phase of ASU Downtown, as it nears its fall deadline.

“Building Phoenix” is a production of the city of Phoenix Development Services Department. Michael Hammett, host and executive producer, is a multi-Emmy Award winner, and former contributing reporter/producer for ABC 15’s Sonoran Living.
