Neighborhood Services Launches Web Site to Address Foreclosure Concerns

The city of Phoenix has launched a Web site to help homeowners, residents or prospective buyers address foreclosure concerns and issues.

Spearheaded by the Neighborhood Services Department, the Web site, which can be found at phoenix.gov, has information on how to contact a lender and what information to provide when making that contact.

It also includes a list of counseling agencies in Phoenix can help individuals involved in a foreclosure case.

In addition, the site has information to help neighborhoods deal with the blighting impact of foreclosed properties, including the free, tool-lending program, landlord/tenant counseling and where to report blight.

"This Web site doesn't solve every foreclosure case, but it does provide a blueprint for residents and neighborhoods on how to constructively address this issue," said Jerome Miller, Neighborhood Services Director. "It provides valuable information for a smart start."

The Web site also includes information for residents needing rental assistance and programs for those interested in purchasing a home, such as the Homeownership Now and Home in 5.

The Web site was constructed after input and consultation from many sources, including representatives from the City Council Neighborhoods, Housing, Historic Preservation, Arts and Culture Subcommittee, Housing Department, Phoenix Commission on Housing and Neighborhoods, financial institutions, mortgage companies, nonprofit agencies, community-based organizations and others.
