Special Performance at Orpheum Theatre to Benefit Chengdu Earthquake Relief Fund

The Phoenix Sister Cities, along with several co-sponsors, will host a special performance at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, at the Orpheum Theatre, 203 W. Adams St., to benefit the Chengdu Earthquake Relief Fund.

The benefit will feature cultural performances, variety shows, music and dances from several local groups. Suggested donations for performance tickets are $10 to $100; donations toward the earthquake relief fund are requested in lieu of charges for the show.

Checks can be made payable to Chengdu Earthquake Relief Fund and donation checks may be brought to the show the evening of the performance. Credit cards also will be accepted and all donations are tax deductible. Tickets for the event are available at the following locations:

Tickets must be presented to the Orpheum Theatre to gain entrance the night of the show.

“This massive earthquake killed 65,000 people, left 15 million people homeless and thousands are still missing. Any donation you can make, small or large, will be used to help the Chengdu community during this critical time,” said Phoenix City Councilman Michael Johnson, the Council’s liaison to Chengdu.

Donations continue to be accepted at all Wells Fargo Bank branch, account #3522506934.

Event co-sponsors include the Gilbert Sister Cities, Mesa Sister Cities, Tempe Sister Cities, Chandler Human Relation Commission and the Greater Phoenix Chinese United Association.
