The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department’s Shemer Art Center & Museum is offering both art-lovers and artists a reason to welcome summer. The center, located at 5005 E. Camelback Rd., is opening the Marcus Payzant Faculty and Staff Art Exhibition on July 8, and for aspiring artists, the center is actively seeking work for the 2009 exhibition schedule.

The exhibition will run from July 8 to Aug. 6 and can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is free.
The center also is looking for additional work from valley artists for the 2009 exhibit schedule. Any Arizona residents can apply to exhibit their art at the center.
