Dr. Edward B. Diethrich, world-renowned expert in cardiovascular medicine and founder of the Arizona Heart Institute and Arizona Heart Hospital, will discuss the latest recommendations on how to prevent heart and vascular disease from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Paradise Valley Senior Center, Multipurpose Room, 17402 N. 40th St.
In the free presentation, Diethrich also will introduce LifeGuard, a personalized medicine program offered at the Arizona Heart Institute, which explores how age, diet, sleep, exercise and exposure to toxins can impact the way the body functions and how a person feels.
Diethrich will be joined by Teresa Capriotti, RN and clinic nurse manager at the Arizona Heart Institute, who has more than 20 years of experience in cardiovascular medicine. She will be available to answer questions as part of the “Ask a Nurse” program. Free educational materials will be distributed on a variety of topics including diet and health, heart disease, aneurysms and exercise. Heart-healthy snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Diethrich has practiced for more than 40 years and is regarded as one of the world’s pioneers in heart disease diagnosis and innovative cardiovascular treatments.

The presentation will kick off a series of monthly heart-related workshops for older adults and the community at both the Paradise Valley Community Center, 17402 N. 40th St., and Devonshire Senior Center, 2802 E. Devonshire Ave. Upcoming topics will include diet and exercise, stress management, latest advances in cardiovascular care and stroke awareness.
