The city of Phoenix Water Services Department recently won numerous Telly awards for its highly entertaining Empty Glasses public service video and the acclaimed PHX 11 WATERways series.
The public service announcement, featuring actor Leslie Nielsen, was awarded a silver Telly, the organization's highest honor, for writing, and three bronze Tellys for use of humor, lighting and set design. The spots featured Mr. Nielsen being “convinced” by Water Services staff to use water responsibly. A large orange feather was involved. Writer Ken Kroski and Producer Annie DeChance appear in the spot that was directed and edited by PHX 11’s Rod Saubel and Richard Najar.
WATERways 11 won a bronze Telly in the public information category. The informative and entertaining episode features segments on finding leaks in home plumbing lines, city conservation programs, how water is used to make ice for ice hockey and the newest Phoenix water treatment plant.
The Telly Awards honor outstanding TV commercials and programs as well as the finest video and film productions from more than 14,000 international entries.
