Park Rangers To Lead National Trails Day Event On June 7

The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department will be marking National Trails Day on June 7 with a series of “Meet Your Park Ranger” events at Phoenix preserve trailheads throughout the city. Park rangers will be distributing trail maps and answering questions on trails and outdoor programs. The Parks and Recreation Department also is looking for input on the city’s preserve system through a survey on the department’s Webpage at phoenix.gov/parks/hikemain.html.

Parks rangers will greet trail users from 6 to 9 a.m. at the following trailhead locations:

  • Phoenix Mountain Preserve – 40th St. parking lot
    (40th St. south of Shea Blvd.)

  • North Mountain Visitor Center
    12950 N. Seventh St.
    (Seventh Street south of Thunderbird Road)

  • South Mountain Park – Pima Canyon
    9904 S. 48th St.
    ( 48th Street and Guadalupe Road)

  • Papago Park – West Park
    625 N. Galvin Pkwy.
    (West of Galvin Parkway across from the Phoenix Zoo Entrance)

  • Camelback Mountain – Echo Canyon Park
    5950 N. Echo Canyon Pkwy.
    (Tatum Boulevard and McDonald Drive)

  • Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area
    2439 S. Central Ave.
    (Central Avenue south of I-17)
