The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) and PHX11 have received a national Communicator Award for "Phoenix Working for You," a live, call-in show in March 2007 that featured interviews with NSD staff about department programs and services.

The honor marks the fifth national award that the city's cable station and NSD have received for the show. The other recognitions are Telly, Hermes Creative, MarCom and AVA awards.

The show included a phone bank with NSD employees who fielded scores of calls from viewers wishing to discuss topics featured on the show. The topics included blight and the role of neighborhood inspectors, Graffiti Busters, neighborhood associations and Fight Back groups.

Sponsored by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, the Communicator Awards is the leading international creative awards program honoring creative excellence for communication professionals.

The 2008 Communicator Awards received more than 8,500 entries from advertising agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms and public relations firms.
