New Shops Opening in Sky Harbor’s Terminal 4
Phoenix, Arizona -- More than 16 new shops and restaurants are opening this spring and summer in Terminal 4 as Sky Harbor completes phase one of a major redevelopment project. The airport’s busiest terminal is in the midst of an extreme makeover. The redevelopment of Terminal 4 is taking place in phases to reduce the impact on travelers. Beginning March 16, passengers will have their first look at the improvements in the Terminal 4 lobby. The redevelopment will include cosmetic enhancements to the lobby such as increased lighting, higher ceilings and new flooring. The renovation is taking place in phases to reduce impact on travelers. New restaurants in the lobby of Terminal 4 will include Chili’s Too restaurant and bar, opening in early April and Flo’s Shanghai Café, which opens this summer.
The new shops opening this spring in the Terminal 4 lobby include Arizona Highways newsstand, A to Z Kids, Desert Breeze featuring Tommy Bahama resort wear, In Motion Pictures DVD rentals, Brighton Collectibles fashion leather accessories, In Celebration of Golf, Canyon News, Pass the Popcorn and See’s Candies. There are a number of new stores already open behind security in Terminal 4 including The Phoenix souvenir shop, CNBC News, AZ Grillin’, and a second Brighton Collectibles store. PHXpress news and souvenirs, another Pass the Popcorn location and a second See’s Candies store are opening soon behind security.
“These new shops and restaurants are just one more example of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s continuing commitment to customer service,” said Phoenix City Councilwoman Peggy Bilsten.
Construction begins this month on phase two of the Terminal 4 redevelopment. When the renovation is complete in 2007, Terminal 4 will offer more than 40 shops and a number of new restaurants. Terminal 4 handles about 75 percent of Sky Harbor's passenger traffic, and is home to America West, Southwest, Aeromexico, British Airways, Hawaiian Airlines and WestJet.
The contractor for the Terminal 4 redevelopment project is The Weitz Group. The architects are Minnesota Architectural Alliance and Transystems.
