(Phoenix, AZ) -- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's Residential Sound Assistance Program is celebrating a milestone. A Phoenix home owned by Arthur and Ruben Castellanos is the 1,500th to receive free sound mitigation treatments, in order to reduce the impact of aircraft noise inside of the house. Arthur Castellanos lives in the home, located west of the airport in one of the neighborhoods most affected by aircraft noise from Sky Harbor. Thanks to the Residential Sound Assistance Program, the home now has new doors, dual-pane windows, extra weather stripping, additional insulation and more.
On September 3, 2004 Acting Aviation Director for the City of Phoenix, David Cavazos presented Arthur Castellanos with a plaque, commemorating the completion of the 1500th house by Residential Sound Assistance. Mr. Castellanos was so happy with the upgrades to his home, which he and his brother inherited from their mother, he said "I will never forget this day, and I will keep this plaque for the rest of my life." Many other homeowners in Mr. Castellanos' neighborhood, located east of 7th Avenue and South of Buckeye, have also benefited from the free Residential Sound Assistance program.
