New Shops Coming to Sky Harbor's Busiest Terminal

(Phoenix, AZ) -- DVD rentals, children's travel toys and golf supplies are just some of the new products visitors will find in Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's Terminal 4 beginning in the spring of 2005. A major renovation of Terminal 4 is now underway. Phase one of the retail redevelopment project will feature sixteen new stores, including an Arizona Highways newsstand, Brighton Collectibles upscale leather goods, In Celebration of Golf, AZ Kids, featuring merchandise for "kids and their traveling adults," Desert Breeze, offering Tommy Bahama clothing, InMotion Pictures DVD rentals, Pass the Popcorn and See's Candies.

These new stores are only the beginning of the redevelopment of Terminal 4. The project is being completed in phases, to minimize the disruption to travelers. When the renovation is complete in 2007, Terminal 4 will offer over 40 shops, more than double the number it has now.

Construction on phase one began in August, when temporary walls were erected on the north side of the Terminal 4 lobby. During the three year renovation process, construction walls will be a common sight on level 3 of Terminal 4. The north side of the lobby will be redeveloped first, then the south side. Because of the reduced floor space on level 3, those picking up friends and family at Sky Harbor's Terminal 4 are now asked to meet their party at baggage claim.

Terminal 4 handles 77 percent of Sky Harbor's passenger traffic, and is home to America West, Southwest, Aeromexico, British Airways and Hawaiian Airlines. In addition to the new shops and restaurants, the Terminal 4 redevelopment will also include cosmetic improvements such as increased lighting, higher ceilings and new flooring.
