Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Japanese Friendship Garden Ro Ho En volunteer and learn about Japanese gardens and culture. Volunteers serve in 2 ways - and are not mutually exclusive! Many people volunteer in both capacities:

Volunteer Gardeners - no experience is necessary, Master Gardeners are onsite to guide and train. Volunteer Gardeners are needed every day (except Sundays). Most Volunteer Gardeners work at the Garden on Saturday mornings, but weekday help is also possible.

Volunteer Docents - will go through a training program to learn how to give guided tours of the Japanese Garden. Volunteer docents are needed for Public hours, as well as on Tuesdays and Thursdays for private tours and school programs.

Anyone interested in volunteering, should contact the Japanese Friendship Garden at 602-256-3204, or by e-mail: japanese.friendship.garden.pks@phoenix.gov

You can fill out a Volunteer Application (pdf 34 kb), and mail it to JFG Volunteer Coordinator, fax it to (602) 495-5557, or bring it to the Garden.
