Process
Artists and arts organizations
may contact the Center at (602) 262-4727 or add
their email address to our list to be placed on a mailing list
to receive the Shemer's annual Call for Work

Guidelines
General
Please pay close attention to delivery and pick up dates on accompanying
and/or future correspondence. If you have any concerns about these dates,
please contact Shemer immediately.
Any images, artist statements or bios that you can provide us with prior
to the exhibition will be useful for public relations and exhibition
literature.
Artists are provided with a limited quantity of exhibition invitations
prior to or upon delivery of their artwork, which they may distribute
as they see fit. Shemer mails invitations to our members and local arts
organizations. Additional invitations are available for purchase.
The artwork Loan Agreement will be completed upon delivery. To receive
this form in advance so you can complete it and deliver it with your
artwork, please contact Shemer. The Loan Agreement also explains how
indoor artwork is insured.
For every exhibition, Shemer hosts a reception with refreshments that
is open to the public. See accompanying and/or future correspondence
for date and time.
Please notify Shemer if you would like us to release your contact information
to interested parties. You may also bring cards or other information
to be displayed at the literature center in the Front Gallery for the
duration of your exhibition.
Shemer staff will forward to artists the contact information of parties
interested in purchasing their work. Shemer does not require a commission
on sales but welcomes any donated percentage of the work sold. Please
contact Shemer to mark the sold piece and also if the buyer will pick
up the piece at the end of the exhibition.
Front Gallery solo exhibition artists are required to donate one smaller
piece to Shemer's Permanent Collection. The artist and the curator should
discuss the selection of the donation.
Artwork
All 2-dimensional [2D] work must be framed and ready to hang. If you
have framing concerns and/or alternative 2D display circumstances, please
contact Shemer.
Frames should be wired for hanging on hooks or nails. In some instances,
Shemer may require eyehooks to be installed in the upper corners of
the back of the frame to hang the work with monofilament. If you have
questions about hanging methods, please call us.
Please frame large works with Plexiglas.
2D and 3D work exceeding
25 lbs. may need special display conditions. Please notify Shemer in
advance if your work falls into this category.
Pedestals are provided for 3D work. Please notify Shemer in advance
if you wish to bring your own pedestals specific to your work.
If your work requires assembly, please notify Shemer in advance. You
may be requested to assist in the installation.
The Shemer Art Center and
Museum is a unique exhibition space because of its historic nature.
We encourage you to visit the gallery before your exhibition to observe
the challenges, and inspiration, that the space offers.
