CITY OF PHOENIX RECOGNIZES SIGNIFICANT INDUSTRIAL USERS

On April 9, 2008, the City of Phoenix hosted the 18th Annual Industrial Pretreatment Recognition Breakfast.   The Pollution Control Division of the Water Services Department honored 52 industrial users for being in 100% compliance with all calendar 2007 Pretreatment Program requirements. Five awardees received special recognition for having maintained 100% compliance for TEN years. These industries are Certified Inspection Service Company, Inc., D-Velco Manufacturing of Arizona, Inc., Perma-Finish, Inc., Phoenix Baptist Hospital & Medical Center, Inc., and Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. They give their attention to the small details and major obligations of the Permit, thus protecting the health of our citizens and the environment. Over the eighteen years, a total of 893 awards were presented.

Also recognized were 24 individual graduates of the Pretreatment Compliance Academy. The Academy is a 10 hour voluntary instructional program designed to teach the attendees how to maintain compliance with their discharge permits. Since its inception in 1995, we have seen a 72% reduction in noncompliance with the reporting and conditions required by the discharge permits.

We wish to congratulate these companies for a job well done.
