Phoenix Indian Center-Native American Programs

The Phoenix Indian Center, through its Native Workforce Services, provides employment and training activities to Indian, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians with the following priorities:

  • to develop the academic, occupational and literacy skills of Native individuals;
  • to make these individuals more competitive in the workforce; and
  • to promote the economic and social development of Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities in accordance with the goals and values of those communities.
 

City of Phoenix Housing Department

The Housing Department provides and promotes diversified living environments and services for low-income families, seniors and people with disabilities by operating and leasing assisted and affordable housing.

 

Family Self-Sufficiency

The Family Self-Sufficiency program is designed to help individuals in public housing achieve their educational and career goals, assist them with mapping and creating their own future and reward participants with a savings account.

 

Economic Initiatives

The Economic Initiatives program is designed to assist residents in public housing with personal and technical job skills to obtain gainful employment and move out of public housing.

 

City of Phoenix Human Services Department

The Human Services Department provides a comprehensive array of services to help people achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency. Services and programs reach a diverse population of Phoenix residents from preschool children participating in Head Start programs to older adults attending senior center activities. This also includes programs that provide a safety net of services to the community, working to prevent homelessness, maintain independent living, secure employment opportunities and keep at-risk youth in school.

 

Community Services Division

The Community Services Division develops, implements and operates human services programs to meet the emergency, short-term and long-term needs of eligible low-income residents. CSD's mission is to be a catalyst for self determination and active participation in the greater community for people in crisis by providing caring social services.

 

Youthbuild Phoenix

The Youthbuild Program is a nationally recognized comprehensive community development program whose primary objective is to construct or rehabilitate homes for low-income or homeless families. Youthbuild Phoenix is a full-time construction and education training program that targets high school dropouts and unemployed youth. The program offers leadership development, GED preparation, alternative school opportunities, occupational skills training and apprenticeships, peer support groups, life planning assistance, job development and placement assistance.
