The drawing that you provide with your variance/use permit application is used by the Planning Department Graphics Section to draft finished maps for the public hearing, see sample (40 KB, PDF¹). In order for the finished map to be accurate, the drawing that you provide should be as accurate as possible. An inaccurate drawing could impact the Zoning Administrator's decision. While your drawing does not have to be as finished as the sample provided, it must be legible, at least 8.5" x 11" and include:

1. A north arrow.
2. Street names.
3. Dimensions of lot.
4. Dimensions between all structures and property lines and/or fences.
5. Dimensions between all structures on lot.
6. Dimensions of all structures on lot.
7. Location and dimensions of proposed addition (the addition should clearly be labeled "proposed or existing").
8. Label work area.
9. Type of fence (for example: chain link, wood, block).
10. Label landscaping areas.
11. Status of all structures on lot (proposed or existing).
12. City staff will be posting at least fifteen (15) calendar days prior to the hearing. If part of your work includes work in private areas, please inform counter staff if OK for workers to enter.
13. If in a gated community, please inform counter staff of gate code or entry instructions.
