Maryvale Enforcement and Education
Information Provided by the Police Department

Enforcement

We will concentrate on four categories of enforcement within Maryvale Precinct. Each category will have an assigned liaison officer who will act as a bridge of information to specialty bureaus and our precinct. These liaisons will be responsible for collecting all data regarding their specialty and provide monthly reports on the number of occurrences, police reports, arrests, field interrogations, and recovery of property or contraband, including dollar amounts of items recovered/seized. The Resource Lieutenant will provide a monthly report on the activities of the Crime Suppression Unit including all crime suppression programs implemented in the precinct and the results of these programs, including all recap from each of the five assigned squads. This report will also include all programs implemented in the Weed & Seed Site.

The four categories of specialized enforcement will be:

Robbery
Auto Theft
Burglary
Prostitution/Drugs

These categories of specialized enforcement have been documented as crime issues within the precinct that require immediate reduction. All crime suppression programs will be directed towards these goals and will include daily proactive intervention. Crime suppression managers will provide plans and directives to actively engage these habitual offenders and targeted offenses in a proactive manner.

Education

We have numerous educational programs within the precinct that include forms of enforcement. These programs are:

  • School Resource Officers (SRO) who have access to three high schools and sixty-three grade schools. Many of the officers are teaching Law Related Education classes as part of these grants.
  • Party Crew Enforcement—this programs includes classroom training in many of the high schools throughout the valley including Maryvale H.S., Trevor Brown H. S., and Carl Hayden H. S.
  • JDO Program—this program conducts education on curfew violations and enforcement during night time hours. Much of this information is passed on by the SRO program.
Maryvale conducts vin etching and auto theft education at Block Watch and neighborhood association meetings each month.
  • Educational contacts that occur during the answering of 10,000 radio calls per month.
  • Crime Free Multi Housing and Crime Free Hotel/Motel Programs.
  • Proactive abatement and alcohol related education—we are currently working twelve properties on pre-abatement issue.
  • Domestic Violence information provided to victims of DV

TREATMENT:
This will require the collaboration of non-profit, profit, faith based, educational institutions, and government programs to address the many social needs of the community. Maryvale Precinct will facilitate this through our website, but it will be the responsibility of each partner to ensure their websites are updated to provide the information and treatment required to bring about restoration and revitalization in the community.

To change behavior, you must change mindsets. Maryvale Precinct is committed to facilitating all proactive programs that will bring about positive results through alcohol/drug treatment, life skills education, financial skills, counseling, child care and recreation programs for youth. These items do not fall under the mandate of law enforcement, but we recognize they are crucial to achieve wellness in any community.
