Specialty Investigative Units include Pawn and Metal Theft. They also operate the Burglary Reduction Program (BRP) which directs the combined efforts of statistical crime analysis, education, communication, and wanted flyers to reduce Burglaries and increase penalties for those that commit them.

The Property Crimes Bureau, North Property Investigations Unit (NPIU) is comprised of four operational responsibilities: 1) The Investigative Support Detail; 2) The Pawnshop Detail; 3) The Property Investigations Detail; 4) The Street Crimes Detail.

Detectives assigned to the investigative details covering the precincts are are responsible for investigating a variety of property crimes that occur in the north three precincts of the city, or the non-grey areas of the above map. The Pawnshop Detail is tasked with the regulation of 38 pawnshops and 800 secondhand dealers through on-site inspections and dealer generated reports, as required by state law. Information is often developed through these inspections and reports that result in the recovery of stolen property and the service of both felony and misdemeanor arrest warrants. The Street Crimes Unit operates in an undercover capacity and responds to priority crime problems in the north precincts through surveillance of locations and individuals, recovering stolen property and assisting patrol officers as needed.
