Privacy Statement Extension

The following Privacy Statement has been developed as an extension of the City's E-Phoenix Privacy Policy and details how the E-Phoenix Payment Service will use and protect users' personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information is information about a person that is readily identifiable to that specific individual. Personally identifiable information includes such things as an individual's name, social security number, home address, and phone number.

E-Payment transactions are allowed only under tightly controlled circumstances, where there are appropriate technological and other safeguards in place to protect financial and other sensitive data. Every precaution is taken by the use of sufficient encryption, to protect personal information. Designated banks route the data, transfer the funds and confirm payment to both you and the City.

The data we collect and how it is used.

Information provided for a transaction is used only for the purpose of completing and recording the transaction. Information requested will be no more specific than if you were engaging in the transaction by other means, including by telephone, fax, or in person.

What we collect if you make a purchase electronically:

If you make a purchase electronically, the following information is required to verify the credit card and get authorization to bill the card from the issuing agency, as well as to ensure appropriate delivery of goods and/or services:

1. Your Name
2. Your Billing Address
3. Credit Card Number
4. Type of Credit Card
5. Date the Credit Card Expires
6. If shipping is required, the shipping address, if different than the billing address.
7. Data about items that have been selected for payment.
8. Billing Amount
9. Authorization Code

You may also enter optional contact information:

1. Your phone number
2. Your e-mail address

We use your e-mail address to send a receipt showing the items paid for and amounts billed to your credit
card. We may also use the phone number or e-mail address to contact you if we have a problem with the
payment.

We automatically collect and store the IP address of the Internet connection that provided the credit card information. This information would be used if we needed to track illegal use of a credit card back to its origination point, helping ensure the security of your credit card usage.

Information provided by you online is used only for the purpose of completing and recording purchases, and verifying the funds availability of the credit card, in order to ensure a successful transaction. Transaction and payment data described above are retained for the length of time required by the issuing credit card companies.

If you have any questions regarding your payments made to the City of Phoenix, please contact the appropriate agency about the payment in question.

Sharing of information.

As a governmental agency, Public Records Laws govern the City of Phoenix. Any information we receive through the use of our site is subject to the same provisions as information provided on paper. The City of Phoenix will not release any personally identifiable information to outside parties unless legally required to do so.

E-Payment personally identifiable information is shared with our Internet transaction processor (Cybersource), Cybersource verifies the validity of the information being processed and then passes it to First Data who performs the authorization process with the bank.
