The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department announces a great opportunity for children with disabilities to experience the fun of playing soccer. The Adaptive Soccer League is now forming for boys and girls ages 6 – 18 who have a physical, sensory, and /or cognitive impairment.

All games will be held on Saturdays at the Diamondbacks Youth Complex at the Reach 11 Sports Complex located at 3075 E. Deer Valley Rd., near the Deer Valley and Cave Creek Roads intersection.  These state-of-the-art specialty fields, built in partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks, are wheelchair accessible and feature TotTurf surfacing, often found on playgrounds.  Each field also features authentic Chase Field stadium seats and picnic tables.

League play will begin on Saturday, February 23, 2008 and will continue until April 5, 2008.  There will be two levels of play.  6 – 11 year olds will play on one field and will utilize a “buddy” to assist them. 12 – 18 year olds will use another field and will not utilize a buddy. The cost is $30.00 per player and will include a t-shirt, equipment and award.
