CITY OF PHOENIX
FINAL PROGRAM OF PROJECTS FOR THE
ANNUAL APPLICATION FOR
49 U.S.C. §5307, §5309, §5316, §5317, CONGESTION MITIGATION AND
AIR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CMAQ),
AND SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STP) FUNDED PROJECTS

Notice is hereby given that the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department held a public hearing on behalf of the Phoenix and Avondale urbanized area on April 28, 2008 at the Public Transit Department, 302 N. First Avenue, First floor, Phoenix Arizona.

The purpose of this hearing was to solicit and consider public comment on applications for capital projects for which financial assistance is being sought from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), pursuant to 49 U.S.C.

The City of Phoenix will make the applications on behalf of the region as the designated recipient of federal transit funds for the urbanized area.  Funds will be passed through to the subrecipients via contracts.

This final program of projects reflects consideration given to the comments received at the public hearing.

City of Phoenix:         Associated capital maintenance – operations; Design/construct upgrades – North and South; Project support services; Install bus stop passenger improvements – 40 sites; Purchase bus < 30 foot – 30 replacements; Purchase bus STD 40 foot – 35 replacements; Purchase bus STD 40 foot – 1 replacement;  Upgrade surveillance equipment at transit facilities. 

Design for heavy maintenance facility; Repayment of operating facility construction (West Ops); Paratransit facility design.

Repayment of pre-design for regional park-and-ride (I-17/Happy Valley Road).

Design for regional park-and-ride (I-17/Happy Valley Road); Intermodal facility construction.

Purchase bus<30 foot – 7 replacements (STS); computer hardware; computer software; Operating assistance (JARC).

                                    Operating assistance (NEW FREEDOM).

City of Peoria:           Associated capital maintenance – operations; Purchase bus 30< foot – 4 replacements.

City of Surprise:        Associated capital maintenance – maintenance; Purchase bus 30< foot – 2 replacements (DAR).

                                    Operating Assistance (NEW FREEDOM).

City of Avondale:       Operating assistance (UZA area 347).

City of Mesa:             Pre-Design regional park-and-ride (US 60 & Country Club).

                                   
A public hearing was held by the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department on April 28, 2008 to afford an opportunity for interested persons or agencies to be heard with respect to the social, economic and environmental aspects of the projects.  Interested persons submitted orally, or in writing, comments or recommendations with respect to said projects that have become part of the public hearing record and will be retained by the City of Phoenix.
