Theater Policies

Phoenix Stages logo used as link to home pageTo help make your theater-going experience enjoyable and rewarding, here is a list of our standard theater policies.
  • Due to local regulations, the use of cameras, and audio and video tape recorders are not permitted inside the theater. If you bring one of these devices to Symphony Hall and Orpheum Theatre, you will be asked by our usher staff to leave it in the coat checkroom until after the performance.

  • The use of cellular phones, beepers, radio and anything else that goes beep, buzz or whir is not permitted within the theaters. Please make sure you turn your Audience in Orpheum Theatreelectronic devices off before attending a performance.

  • If you are expecting an emergency call, you may leave your cellular phone or beeper and your seat location with the house manager on duty (see usher in coat checkroom).Emergency calls can also be made to the Civic Plaza Security at (602) 262-7271.

  • Latecomers will be seated at the first appropriate performance break, as determined by the company in residence at our venues. If there is no appropriate break, latecomers will be seated in the rear of the house until intermission, except during sold out performances. Plasma-screen televisions showing performances are located in the lobby. Please remember there are many other sporting and entertainment activities occurring in the downtown area on any given night. Traffic is heavy and parking areas may be full. Plan ahead and leave early in order to arrive at the theater before the curtain goes up.

  • No member of the audience is allowed on stage and aisles must be kept clear at all times. We do not allow standing on seats or any activity which may result in injury to self or others or that may interfere with the performance.

  • Food and beverages, except water bottles with caps, are not permitted in the theaters.

  • Smoking is not permitted inside any City of Phoenix building.

  • A ticket is required for every audience member, regardless of age.
