Sewer Capacity Relief Project Map and Schedule

To address the sewer constraint issues that have been identified, the City has developed a program and project schedule to undertake relief projects to eliminate those issues within the next three years. The Sewer Capacity Relief Project Map depicts the locations of the various projects that the City will be funding to eliminate all identified sewer constraints. While private developers will in some cases undertake certain projects on an accelerated basis (and therefore initiate projects early), it is the City’s intention that all of the projects will be initiated no later than the dates shown on the schedule. When a private developer does accelerate a sewer relief project, City compensation for the design and construction phases of the project will still be provided utilizing the schedule established by the City.

These projects have been numbered according to the contract system (as opposed to a list of physical projects) that will be utilized by the Water Services Department to deal with the numerous constraint areas – in certain cases several areas have the same number, indicating that the City will be utilizing one combined schedule, design phase, and contractor for several smaller projects. The schedule shows the planned design, bid and construction timelines for each of the projects shown on the map. In situations where a developer or business is taking on responsibility for accelerating a relief project, and will later be reimbursed by the City, the posted schedule may not reflect the accelerated real schedule until such time as the construction is actually completed and the facilities are accepted by the City.
