Call to Visually Impaired Artists. The Arizona Commission on the Arts is developing a list of artists who are blind or visually impaired for a future art activity. The different areas of art include but are not limited to paint, ceramic, woodwork, metal work, literature (writing poetry, fiction, etc.), music (writing, performing instruments, singing, etc.), theater, dance, etc. They don't have to be professional artists, but they have to consider themselves good in whatever they do. If you are a blind/visually impaired artist or know someone who is, please provide the following information: Artist Name, Phone, Mailing Address, Email Address (if available), Type of art, How long have you been doing this activity? They participate in a variety of educational programming such as leading tours, welcoming visitors, helping customers in the store, hosting special events, and assisting school-age children with hands-on art projects. CLEARMONT, WY - Ongoing
The UCROSS Foundation Residency Program for the arts and literature offers residencies for 2-8 weeks. Located on a 22,000 acre working cattle ranch in the foothills of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, the Foundation provides individual workspace, living accommodations, uninterrupted time and the experience of the historic High Plains landscape to selected writers, artists, and composers working in all disciplines. There is no charge for room, board, or studio space. Annual deadlines are October 1 for Spring Session (February-June) and March 1 for Fall Session (August-December). Live at the Hope VI Art & Culture Partnership- the City of Tucson and the South Park Neighborhood have developed an opportunity for artists to live, work and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the south Park area. An art and cultural facility has been developed from a pre-existing five-plex housing unit and is devoted to fostering and promoting arts and culture in the South Park neighborhood and surrounding areas. The center includes two buildings and an outdoor courtyard for classes, workshops, lectures and exhibits. In addition the facility includes two renovated apartment units. We are currently accepting apartment rental applications from working artists. Metropolitan Housing Corporation (MHC) is the facility manager of the complex and occupies an office at the facility. Scottsdale Public Art Program has an immediate opening for a full-time Project Manager II to serve as a senior level project manager for the Scottsdale Public Art Program. This position is responsible for direct day-to-day management of 5 - 10 public art projects in development ranging from direct artist commissions/purchases to integrated site work. Manages project activity related to: project programming and planning, artist selection, contract development, negotiation, monitoring, and implementation; artist support and supervision related to design, fabrication, and installation. Serves as project liaison to city staff, client departments, project design teams, public and others. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in art history, studio art, arts administration, public administration, urban planning, architecture and two years in public art. Combination of education and experience required. Public art project management experience is preferred. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends. EOE. CALLS TO ARTISTS

SEATTLE, WA - Deadline: May 5, 2008
4Culture is seeking to acquire wall-mounted landscape works that use color (paintings, prints, photographs, drawings, etc.) for the Harborview Medical Center Collection, part of the King County Public Art Collection. The subject matter for this call must be the essence of landscape, whether represented realistically or abstractly. These works will be on display throughout the public spaces of the new Norm Maleng Building, a multi-story facility that houses operating rooms, acute care, rehabilitation, and clinic facilities, along with their associated waiting areas . An overall budget of $80,000 has been designated to purchase artwork. Artists who would like their work considered for purchase must submit images of existing available artwork for the panel’s review. The maximum value of individual works should be $3500. A maximum height or width of 36” and a maximum depth of 3” for the artwork is specified. All artworks will be purchased unframed; if this is not possible due to highly specialized or integrated framing treatments, the artist will be responsible for framing artwork within conservation guidelines provided by 4Culture staff. PALM DESERT, CA - Deadline: May 10, 2008
The City of Palm Desert is now accepting applications for the 2009/2010 El Paseo Invitational Exhibition. The exhibition is showcased on the medians of El Paseo and is seen by thousands of visitors each year as well as advertised nationally, regionally, and locally. The exhibition is juried by a curator and runs for approximately two years. Honorarium: $2,500 for each selected artwork. TEMPE, AZ - Deadline: May 23, 2008
The Arizona State University Art Museum’s Ceramics Research Center, in an effort to define the front edge of experimental ceramic work, is looking for limited submissions for the exhibition Midstream: New Ceramics from the Heartland. Artists in the Midwestern region of the U.S. can submit up to 5 low resolution digital images and a brief resume and statement. Artists residing in the following states are eligible: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Midstream will uncover the work of 5-7 artists or artist collectives that are defining a new generation of clay workers reflecting the dominance in the contemporary art world of artists from diverse backgrounds working with new issues of identity. We are soliciting work that is bold in its commentary on global concerns and move to a broader examination of our humanity through humor, fantasy or direct honesty. We are seeking artists that create with clay/mixed-media in a wide range of approaches: installation, performative, participatory or industrial. Stipends for shipping costs are available.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Deadline: open 
Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking professional artists for design collaborations and/ or public art commissions for its Art-in Transit Program. Over the next few years, Charlotte is building a rapid transit system and will incorporate public art into its stations, park and rides, and maintenance facilities and has allocated $2.3 million for art. Design fees range from $5,000-$25,000: commissions from $25,000-$250,000. In preparation for Phase I and subsequent phases, artists are requested to submit their materials to a new slide registry that will be used to make selections of artists as the system is phased in. The Art Resource Center is a non-profit corporation that collects reusable discards from individuals and industries and offers them free of charge to schools and other nonprofit entities for the purpose of making art. Items include fabric and fiber remnants, clay, containers, and art supplies.
