Evaluation Criteria

Applications are evaluated by panelists to determine the capacity of the organization to benefit from participation in the program using the criteria listed below. Because your application will compete with other proposals, be sure to address as many points under each criterion as possible in your application.

Organization has the capacity to fully utilize all of the program benefits to further its organizational development

• Qualifications and experience of administrative and artistic staff
• Qualifications and experience of Board of Trustees
• Board structure
• Completed Needs Assessment form

Evidence of Board and staff commitment to focus on improving administration and operations

• Quality of board development and organizational goals
• Primary board and staff person assigned to program

Organization has demonstrated its ability to produce successful artistic programs

• Artistic quality
• Venues used and program attendance
• Quality of three-year artistic goals

Organization has the fiscal capacity to support its administrative operations and artistic programming

• Balanced and accurate budgets
• Diverse base of support through earned income, private funding and government sources
• Organization’s overall fiscal health

Organization has demonstrated commitment to outreach activities and audience development

• Quality of promotional materials
• Collaborations, partnerships
• Audience demographics

Organization has received arts project grants from the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture and/or can demonstrate that its art form represents an underserved community in Phoenix
