Overview

The Capacity Building grant category provides Phoenix arts and cultural organizations with three years of general operating support and technical assistance opportunities. The purpose of this category is to assist organizations in establishing themselves as secure and growing participants in the Phoenix arts and cultural community through building organizational and administrative infrastructure.

The Capacity Building grant category also seeks to build the capacity of arts and cultural organizations to meet the eligibility requirements for the General Operating Support grant category.

Organizations funded through this grant category must agree to:

• Commit one board or staff member to serve as an on-going liaison to the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture.

• With consultant assistance, develop and implement plans to improve board, organizational and administrative infrastructure.

• Prepare and monitor organizational budgets for programs and activities.

• Include progress reports on consultancies on each board meeting agenda and submit progress reports to the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture

• Ensure board and staff attendance at monthly Capacity Building Program participant meetings and 4 - 6 organizational development workshops per year coordinated by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture.
