Celebrating Phoenix’s Legacy of Art
The Gallery @ City Hall” is dedicated to displaying rotating exhibitions of art from the City's historic municipal Art Collection of approximately 1,000 potable works, and highlighting exemplary projects commissioned by the award-winning Phoenix Public Art Program.  Opened in May 2012 to celebrate Arizona's Centennial (click here for the youtube video), it offers Phoenix residents and visitors alike a museum-like setting to view and enjoy the legacy of art that Phoenicians began building nearly a century ago, in 1915 (Additional information on the Municipal Collection.) The Gallery @ City Hall is supported by private contributions from businesses and residents throughout the city and region, and operated by volunteers.  Admission is free and the gallery is open to the public.

Art Under Foot:  Handmade Floors at the PHX Sky Train
“Art Under Foot: Handmade Floors at the PHX Sky Train,” reveals how the award-winning, artist-designed terrazzo floors at the PHX Sky Train stations, pedestrian bridges and public buildings were planned, designed and built. The exhibit offers behind-the-scenes, first person stories of this remarkable creative collaboration, and celebrates the essential role of the workers who brought the artistic concepts to life. The exhibit includes artists’ original drawings, computerized models, large graphics, hands-on displays, and an eight-minute video describing the 40,000 hours of labor that went into creating the Sky Train’s extraordinary floors.
