Once the site of an ancient Hohokam canal and now a utility corridor for the Salt River Project, the seven median islands in this residential neighborhood have been enhanced by irrigated landscaped berms with native plantings, colored concrete, bronze medallions based on Hohokam petroglyphs and designs depicting water and energy, and a milagro pole (Spanish for “miracle”) with objects provided by students, community members and SRP. The artists worked with students from the Cordova School to design the enhancements.
