Arts and Social Change Project

Eligibility

To be eligible for funding, your organization must meet these requirements at the time of application:

• The organization must be a registered non-profit with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code; or an applicant not registered as a 501(c)3 may apply through a fiscal agent, a registered non-profit organization willing to submit an application and serve as a fiduciary agent on behalf of an organization that does not have tax-exempt status. An organization serving as a fiscal agent for an applicant can submit its own application in the same grant category.

• In addition, the proposed project must provide services within the City for the direct benefit of Phoenix residents.

New applicants are encouraged to apply for funding. Grant awards are not based on prior funding history. Organizations that were not funded in the past are encouraged to apply again.

Grants may be written and submitted by arts and cultural organizations, social service agencies and community based organizations.

Schools are not eligible to apply for Community Arts Support grants.

Funding Restrictions

Grant funds cannot be used for:

• Construction or renovation of facilities
• Feasibility studies
• Capital expenditures
• Reduction of debts
• Receptions
• Lobbying expenses
• Fund-raising projects
• Re-granting
• Scholarship programs
• Staff salaries
• Membership dues or fees
• A full season of artistic activities

University or college-sponsored projects will be considered for funding only if they are open exclusively to non-credit participants.

The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture will not fund grant requests from other City of Phoenix departments; however, community non-profit organizations acting in partnership with a city department may apply for assistance.

The city of Phoenix cannot legally fund applications from organizations incorporated for religious purposes.
