The American Public Works Association (APWA) named Street Transportation Director and City Engineer Wylie Bearup, PE, Ph.D., a national Top 10 Leader of 2013.
Dr. Bearup played a vital role in Phoenix’s most notable construction projects, including downtown centerpieces like the Phoenix Convention Center, ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel.
APWA annually recognizes 10 of the most outstanding public works professionals from across the U.S. and Canada for their career-long dedication and service, professionalism and expertise in public works infrastructure.
As one of the most coveted and prestigious awards presented by the association, the Top 10 Public Works Leader award is given to honor the public works professional’s career, in which he or she demonstrated excellence in public works, services and infrastructure in his community through advancement of public works services and technology.
Bearup has more than 37 years of public works experience with both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the city of Phoenix. His professional experience focuses on managing all facets of engineering/architectural design and construction for a broad array of major projects.
