Retirement Timing
Effective January 1, 2016 employees wishing to retire are required to file their Application for Retirement with COPERS 14 or 30 calendar days prior to the date of retirement.

Rule of 80 or 87 - 14 calendar days

Age 60 w/10 years - 30 calendar days

Age 62 w/5 years - 30 calendar days

COPERS' Retiree Benefit Payments
COPERS' retiree benefit payments for December 2023 will be processed on January 1, 2024. Transaction processing schedules are determined by each financial institution and will vary. For direct deposit transactions, please check with your financial institution for their processing schedule for transactions received on a non-business day.
