About the Task Force
The Development Process Ad Hoc Task Force is co-chaired by Councilman Sal DiCiccio (District 6) and Councilman Tom Simplot (District 4).
The Ad Hoc Task Force is charged with examining processes within the city's development approval process in order to reduce expense and time for businesses and homeowners while protecting neighborhoods and property values.
The focus areas for the Ad Hoc Task Force include the following, with recommendations to be made to the City Council Finance, Efficiency Innovation and Sustainability Subcommittee:
- Streamline the zoning and site plan review process
- Streamline adaptive reuse
- Promote infill development
- Speed up building plan reviews
- Develop and implement an electronic plan review
- Evaluate and recommend right-sourcing opportunities
- Review all expenses to ensure reasonable fees while maintaining full cost recovery
- Comprehensively review inspection options
The Task Force will make recommendations to the Council on processes that can be streamlined while also ensuring full cost recovery. The Task Force will sunset May 31, 2012, with a report to the Council by that date.

The Ad Hoc Task Force is comprised of the following committees; Steering Committee, Residential Subcommittee, Commercial Subcommittee, Planning & Zoning Subcommittee, and the Residential/Commercial Subcommittee Working Group.
