RAPID's here! Get on board
There are a lot of great things happening in the Ahwatukee Foothills community. The 66-acre Pecos Regional Park will open soon with seven ball fields. Improvements can be seen in Mountain Vista Park, Desert Foothills Park, Vista Canyon Park, Sun Rey Park and Western Star Park. ALEX, our local circulator, is available to take residents to shopping and entertainment without ever getting in a car.
However, in addition to these exciting improvements a truly great city must provide a variety of transportation options for its residents. That's why I'm excited to invite you to join me for an open house today from 7 to 9 a.m. at the new 40th Street/Pecos Road Park-and-Ride. At the open house, we will be introducing a new commuter service called RAPID.
Ahwatukee Foothills is fortunate to be one of two Phoenix neighborhoods to launch RAPID, which provides service directly into the heart of our city. We have been busy preparing for the start, including constructing the 562-space 40th Street/Pecos Road Park-and-Ride with shade canopies and a guard station. We have created a new RAPID bus route (I-10 east), utilized more comfortable new buses designed for long-distance travel, and identified new distinct RAPID stops.
Now it's up to us to get on board. Give RAPID a try or use the Park-and-Ride facility to carpool or vanpool.
If you want more information, please feel free to contact me by phone at (602) 262-7491 or visit the city Web site at
www.phoenix.gov and click on the RAPID logo.
