Councilman Greg Stanton Goes Back to School

Councilman Greg Stanton recently launched a new program targeted to welcome parents, students and educators back to school. Throughout the months of August and September, Stanton will visit dozens of schools in his district, which include the areas of Ahwatukee Foothills, Arcadia, Biltmore and north Central Phoenix.

To celebrate the kick-off of this program, Stanton and his staff will distribute book marks during the next three weeks during the first day of school for various schools across the district. During his Back to School visits, he will participate in different activities including brown bag lunches with teachers, serving as a crossing guard, speaking to social studies classes and serving lunch to students in the cafeteria. Below is a list of current confirmed activities:

Ahwatukee Foothills
Desert Vista High School
Tuesday, Aug. 7
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Stanton will sit down with teachers for a brown bag lunch

Mountain Pointe High School
Tuesday, Aug. 21
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Stanton will sit down with teachers for a brown bag lunch

Kyrene de los Lomas Elementary School
Friday, Aug. 24
1:30 to 2 p.m.
Stanton will read to students

Kyrene de la Esperanza Elementary School
Thursday, Sept. 6
8:30 to 9:15 a.m
Stanton will read to students

Kyrene Centennial Middle School
Monday, Sept. 10
9 to 10 a.m.
Stanton will visit a Peer Leadership class

Kyrene de la Estrella Elementary School
Monday, Sept. 10
11 a.m. to noon
Stanton will serve lunch to students

Arcadia
Ingleside Middle School
Friday, Aug. 10
7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Stanton will lead a Start Smart walk around the community

Squaw Peak Elementary School
Tuesday, Sept. 11
7:45 to 8:15 a.m.
Stanton will volunteer as a crossing guard

North Central
Madison Park Middle School
Wednesday, Aug. 22
2:30 to 3 p.m.
Stanton will volunteer as a crossing guard

Madison No. 1 Elementary School
Monday, Aug. 27
7:30 to 8 a.m.
Stanton will volunteer as a crossing guard

Madison Simis Elementary School
Friday, Sept. 7
8 to 9 a.m.
Stanton will volunteer as a crossing guard

Madison Camelview Elementary School
Thursday, Sept. 13
9:30 to 10 a.m.
Stanton will read to students
