Dec. 29, 2005

District 2 Councilwoman Peggy Neely, District 4 Councilman Tom Simplot, District 6 Councilman Greg Stanton and Vice Mayor and District 8 Councilman Michael Johnson will take the oath of office from Mayor Phil Gordon and Chief Presiding Judge Roxanne Song Ong. The event is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 at the Orpheum Theatre, 203 W. Adams St.

Complimentary public parking is available in the garage on the southwest corner of Third Avenue and Washington Street. A reception immediately follows in the City Hall atrium, 200 W. Washington St.

All four council members were re-elected in September 2005 to new, four-year terms. For more information on the council members, visit their Web sites at phoenix.gov/district2, phoenix.gov/district4, phoenix.gov/district6 and phoenix.gov/district8.

The ceremony also will include the Phoenix Police and Fire Honor Guard, performances from school musical groups and an invocation and benediction by Phoenix religious leaders.
