Petsmart Dog Park at Pecos Park Opens Nov. 22

Nov. 18, 2003

Vice Mayor Greg Stanton invites the community to celebrate the opening of the PETsMART Dog Park at Pecos Park from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. The area's first dog park is located in the southeast part of the park at 17010 S. 48th St. (48th Street and Pecos Parkway; Exit I-10 at Chandler Boulevard, go to 48th Street and head south into the park. There's no entrance to the park from Pecos Road).

The dog park has two fenced areas totaling 2.5 acres, including a new area for smaller dogs made possible by PETsMART. The park has a sidewalk entryway, water, lights, double-entry gate system, informational kiosk, mutt mitt bags, dispensers and trash receptacles.

Opening day events will include refreshments, contests (owner/dog look alike, best of show, best pet trick), giveaways from Bone Appetite, a dog obedience demonstration and open dog play.
