Crime Summit to Unite Districts 4 and 7

Councilman Tom Simplot will host District 4’s fifth annual Crime Summit along with District 7 Councilman Michael Nowakowski Saturday, Feb. 2, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Valley Garden Center, 1809 N. 15th Ave.

The summit will bring together government representatives—including Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, Mayor Phil Gordon and Public Safety Manager Jack Harris—along with neighborhood activists and law enforcement to brainstorm policies that could better address crime issues.

“Districts 4 and 7 border each other for several miles and share many of the same challenges when it comes to crime, which is why our two communities need to come together to mull over these issues,” said Simplot.

Nowakowski echoed the importance of the event, saying, “I am hoping the wisdom of crowds will help us comprehensively tackle crime in our neighborhoods.”

Residents interested in fighting crime in their neighborhoods can register for the summit on the day of the event. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will include breakfast and refreshments. Attendees are asked to confirm their attendance by calling 602-262-7447 or by e-mail.
