City of Phoenix Veterans Initiative
This year, my colleagues on the City Council and I passed the H.E.R.O. Initiative, a program designed to address the high unemployment rate among veterans. As part of the initiative, the city is working with a broad coalition of community stakeholders and employers to host “H.E.R.O. Hiring Events.”
These events are much different than typical job fairs. They are smaller, more personal and our team does extensive groundwork in advance of the events to “pre-match” veteran job seekers and employers to ensure greater job placement. Also, prior to each hiring event, we offer a series of free workshops for veterans to assist with resume translation from military language to civilian, interview skills, and general career readiness.
If you are a veteran, looking for employment, you have come to the right place! Please see below for a listing of hiring events and resume workshops. Register today!
