Workforce Connection Board

Message from Darrell Rich, ChairmanPWC Board Pic

The vision of Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Board (PBWD) is "To become a high value network of choice for building a workforce to keep business competitive and sustain economic growth." The need to accomplish this within our community has never been greater.  Our focus has never been sharper.  Opportunity, and the tools to take advantage of it and drive real world, repeatable solutions, has never been better.  As a board, we are committed to innovative, efficient, and systematic solutions that drive value and recognizable results for the business and workforce communities that we serve.

Phoenix has struggled.  The impact on our community from the recent global economic struggles has been hard felt and substantial.  It is vital that we find sustainable solutions that leave Phoenix less susceptible to future economic downturns and better able to weather inevitable future storms.  The PBWD board is comprised of both public and private sector employees who represent government, education, community partners and business.  Bringing together the talent and resources of these entities allows us to view the big picture in its entirety while giving us the opportunity to create real world solutions that work.  We are actively engaged in reaching out to businesses to show them that Phoenix has everything they need to start, expand or enhance their business and that we can offer them resources to find and train future employees.

In an effort to better align with the vision of city leaders and create more synergies, we have realigned our task forces and committees to concur with the strategy of seeking business and job growth in targeted sectors.  Growing opportunities within these sectors will better diversify and strengthen Phoenix, creating and sustaining higher caliber jobs across the community.  We are very excited about the Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Center that is currently under construction.  In conjunction with the city leaders, we have worked diligently to create a place where businesses can join with One-Stop and Workforce professionals to find their future employees, create training programs to suit a business' specific needs, and train people for careers, not just jobs.  This center will put Phoenix on the cutting edge of solutions nationally for training or retraining individuals to meet the demands of companies.

The road ahead is difficult, our challenges great, but the strength, resolve, passion, talent and dedication of the PBWD Board is greater.  We are committed to and focused on finding employment solutions for Phoenix that are sustainable long term, career focused and repeatable.  Our goal is to bring together business and the local workforce to create a better Phoenix for everyone involved.  We are ready and capable of meeting the challenges ahead.  If you would like to be involved, please contact any member of the board.  Share your ideas with us, attend our board meetings or, better yet, become involved yourself.  Represent your industry.  Share your talents, time, wisdom and connections.  Help us make Phoenix the city of opportunity so that we can positively impact the communities that we serve.  We WILL make a difference!
