Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County, Inc. is one of approximately 380 affiliates of Literacy Volunteers of America. LVMC provides adult education and literacy programs in the community and serves almost 1,800 students annually. In 1999, LVMC was awarded the nation's highest award, the "Secretary's Award" for Outstanding Adult Education and Literacy Program from the U.S. Department of Education.
Maricopa Community College District
The Maricopa Community Colleges comprise 10 colleges, 2 skill centers and numerous education centers dedicated to educational excellence, meeting the needs of businesses and the citizens of Maricopa County. Each college is individually accredited, yet part of a larger system - Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). The District is one of the largest higher education systems in the world and the largest provider of health care workers and job training in Arizona - a major resource for business and industry and for individuals seeking education and job training. Nearly 270,000 credit and special interest students attend the colleges annually.
